The races of the European Paralympic Fencing Championships scheduled in Terni from 17 to 23 September 2018 will be held at the Palazzetto Aldo De Santis which is located in Via Italo Ferri 10 (entrance on Via del Centenario side).

The structure, which extends over 1200 square meters, is located in a strategic position, easily reachable from most of the hotel facilities and behind the suggestive scenery offered by the surrounding mountains. The Pala De Santis of Terni was built in the late nineties as a structure dedicated to table tennis. Designed to host the 2004 Olympics, for which Rome was nominated but which were awarded to Athens, it was inaugurated in 2000 in the presence of the President of CONI Gianni Petrucci and the Undersecretary to the Prime Minister Enrico Micheli.

Thanks to its versatility, the Pala De Santis has hosted numerous national and international events of various disciplines, from archery to judo, becoming one of the reference points of sport in Italy. On the occasion of the European Paralympic Fencing Championships, the structure has been transformed for the best possible reception of the athletes and for a correct running of the competitions.

The first room will be used for competitions and will be divided into “field of play” for the preliminaries and “final area” for medal competitions. A second room will be dedicated to the “training” of athletes, while a third will be used as “meeting area” and “restaurant area”. The athletes’ meals, lunch and dinner, will be prepared by the Chef Academy of Matteo Barbarossa.
